Super Smash Bros. Simulcast

This was the first attempt of a simultaneous live broadcast to both Twitch and YouTube from our chain of RTMP servers over an ADSL connection. It technically worked, but YouTube was not able to keep most of the recording and what was left was corrupt. So here is the local version uploaded later today:

We’ll tweak a few things before we try this again. The new Super Smash Bros. is pretty good.

SONIC MANIA!!!

Sonic Mania yields the speedy return of the classic sonic gameplay that we know and love along with a new punchy soundtrack that stays true to the classic style in a new way. This game is a lot of fun and I’d definitely recommend checking it out.

Here’s the recording of the live stream we made at launch (2am AEST):

Or if for some reason you don’t like YouTube, here’s the Twitch link:

Gouldy’s Stages: A Mild Adventure [SMM]

A follow-up video to the previous level creation live stream. This is a play-through of my new stage, A Mild Adventure. A stage with both an overworld and an underworld in the Super Mario World game. Yoshi is available for additional help however not required to complete the stage. Yoshi can be used to enter secret areas, which are not disclosed in this video.

If you want to try it out for yourself, the code is:

Gouldy’s Stages: Tracks ‘N’ Stuff [SMM]

As part of the progressive unlocking system that Super Mario Maker uses, this is heavily based on the tracks pack that you get. Incidentally, I made the stage when I obtained the pack. There is a mandatory side quest in this stage that prevents you from passing the stage if not completed. It may seem a bit puzzling if you hadn’t watched this video beforehand, so it’s important to be creative.

If you want to try it out for yourself, the code is:

Gouldy’s Stages: Coin Bridge Castle [SMM]

After yesterday’s challenge I now present something easier in comparison, well, kind of. In Coin Bridge Castle you must activate a P switch to run along some coins. The coins are placed over molten lava with fireballs shooting from below. The bridge is guarded by Lakitu, dry bones, Bowser Jr and associates. Not only this but sequentially-placed fireball spinners and cannons further increase the difficulty. If you thought that was enough, the time also has a very short expiry.

But don’t worry, it’s quite possible to complete this stage in the first attempt. So give it a go with the code down below.

If you want to try it out for yourself, the code is:

Gouldy’s Stages: The Sky Challenge [SMM]

Next up, we have The Sky Challenge. This is one of my more challenging stage designs. In this stage, you have to keep up with the auto-scroll while making your way through various obstacles. With a mix of pitfalls and persistent enemies, you might have trouble completing this in your first attempt. That said, I invite you to take on the stage for yourself and see how you go.

If you want to try it out for yourself, the code is:

Level Creation Time Lapse – Super Mario Maker

A few weeks ago, I live streamed Super Mario Maker for the first time. As a result of that live stream I created a new level, this is the creation of that level. Since level design tends to take a while, I sped up the video by a factor of 10 (1000% speed) and added some music.

There are still more Super Mario Maker videos to come, but until then here’s the time-lapse:

Computer Upgrade

Hey everyone!

A few days ago I decided to step into the realm of water-cooling so I can get the most out of my Intel Core i7-2700K processor. So I went ahead and purchased a Corsair H100i hydro cooling unit for my system. Then some complications occurred…

Although my Corsair Graphite 230T case could technically fit the cooler, it wouldn’t allow me to use my current RAM sticks as they were too high – a ‘Very Low Profile‘ DIMM module worked, however that would mean I’d need to buy several hundred dollars worth of RAM. So I sprung for a new Corsair Obsidian 750D case instead.

Normally I don’t announce my computer upgrades often, but I actually live streamed this one on Twitch. You can still see the video (below) on Twitch, however there were some complications with YouTube so it’s only available on Twitch.

Pokémon Omega Ruby LP Series

Hey Everyone!

The Pokémon Omega Ruby ‘Let’s Play‘ live series has officially come to an end, finishing at the Battle Resort. There is more to the end of the game, but I’ll let you guys discover that for yourselves.

It’s sad to see the series end, but I had a lot of fun over the past few months streaming and conversing with viewers in the chat. You might have noticed that the stream quality improved over time, so it was also a new learning experience for me to use OBS for my first live series. Who knows, maybe I’ll broadcast another complete series soon enough. But until then, there will be some streams of random games that I may be playing – live schedule currently under reprogramming.

To commemorate the Live LP series, below is a highlight reel of my overall experience in Pokémon Omega Ruby. Enjoy!

Here is the complete episode listing for the series:
